Ok. Nellie Vaughn was inquiring about the actor that PLAYS Ron Burgundy. What is she talking about? Ron Burgundy is a real person isn't he?? Umm..hmmm. Let's learn a little bit more. I decided to do a little research into this matter...and like most people in modern Western civilization, I do research by looking at pictures on the internets with a burrito in one hand, and a diet Dr. Pepper in the other. (Yes, I said a "burrito" and I meant a "burrito"; so get your mind out of the gutter!)
Alright. So, what did my research uncover? Ron Burgundy is in fact NOT a real news anchor, he is played by an actor...possibly comedian Zach Galifianakis...

Zach Galifianakis?? |
But honestly, who cares about any of this. Let's get down to brass tacks, and the true crux of the matter Nellie Vaughn brought up is WHY DO WE LAUGH?? WHAT MAKES SOMETHING FUNNY??
I have no friggin' idea. She might as well have asked Chewbacca this question...

But what kind of investigative reporter would I be if I gave up that easily. NO we do not give up quite just like that. We GO ON..we PRESS FURTHER.. !
So, I decided to use a method of investigation invented by Mark of http://theramblingperson.blogspot.com . In this method of investigation, you ask your readers for questions and then answer them, if you can. Then I thought... how is this going to help? I can't even answer the one question I have already been asked. "Oh yeah!" I thought.
What I really need to do is ask someone else today's question (now, I'm paraphrasing, mind you), "WHAT MAKES SOMETHING FUNNY???" So, I decided (when I get around to it) I will attempt to write Adventure Daniel of the Picklejar Broadcasting System about Nellie Vaughn's question.

"TED" starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis (gif made by me...yes i'm very proud of it, what a stunning achievement) |
And now for some entertaining umm...entertainment news. A new movie directed by comedy expert Seth MacFarlane will be coming out this summer, it is called "TED", and it looks adorable doesn't it? (The craziest thing in this trailer is TED drives the exact same car that I do. How come I don't get to hang out with Mila Kunis all day!!!!!?????) Check out the trailer below:
As you know dear friends, I am capable of being very thoughtful, and very serious when it comes to discussing the important issues of our time. So now let us venture into the world of REAL news, and discuss the Occupy Movement...what it is, what it stands for, and where it's going...with one of the most articulate supporters of the movement, award winning journalist Chris Hedges.
If you would like to watch the entire video of Chris Hedges from beginning to end, you can check it out here: Chris Hedges And Occupy Debate Black Block Violence
Once again, God bless you all, and thank you for your support.
LMAO...I don't know why either...but he is pretty funny!!! hahaha And Mila Kunis is one of my girl crushes. I'm just sayin...lol
ReplyDeleteI didn't laugh during Will Ferrell's announcement as Ron Burgundy about an Anchorman sequel on Conan. I did find the movie Anchorman to be hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHis name is Burgundy and he wears what I think is a velour burgundy suit. That's gotta be funny, right?
ReplyDelete-Barb the French Bean
Some would say he's funny because he's a parody of the self-important news anchorman who thinks he's an oracle when all he does is read lines and get his hair permed. But I think he's funny because people laugh at him.
ReplyDeleteI Googled this Ted movie you wrote about, and it's real. I don't know why I still doubt you, but I think I am getting close to learning my lesson. An entire movie about the Snuggles bear seems like a stupid idea, yet, I am sure it will make oodles of money.
ReplyDeleteDid Zach Galifianakis lose weight and a chin?
I was just being silly... that's not Zach Galifinakis, it's an actor named Nick Offerman who plays a character named Ron Swanson on a show called "Parks and Recreation." (His resemblance to Ron Burgundy is uncanny.) Hopefully, Nick Offerman will become furiously angry with me for confusing him with Zach Galifinakis and start a feud with me, which will be covered blow by blow on Perez Hilton's blog, catapulting me to unparalleled blogging fame.
DeleteI had a feud with Alec Empire after the blog I wrote about him, but I lost because he got all German on me. My brain melted.
DeleteIntense.
DeleteI don't know this man...am I missing something...and my colleague just told me about the Ted movie, seriously I feel like I am living in the middle of nowhere !!! Thanks for bringing me up to date.
ReplyDeleteJust stay tuned to jimmyfungus.com! I will bring you up to date on ALL things that are important (and many things that are not).
DeleteWell I don't think anyone can really say what makes something funny (yay I got a mention though). Different people find different things funny, and something that amuses someone might not amuse another person. Nellie proved that really because she doesn't find Ron Burgundy all that funny, but her friends do. I suppose for something to be funny it just has to be what you yourself find humourous. I can really laugh at pretty much anything.
ReplyDeleteTo the person who sent me an anonymous message... No I am not Abraham Fungus Jr. Sorry. But since you are such a fan, you need to spread the word of his run for the presidency of the United States of America far and wide... to all 50 states and Puerto Rico... and to Canada as well. Because the Canadians can help pass out leaflets in North Dakota at least. Though if you were a really good stalker you could find my picture online. But there is ONLY one. That is the one clue I shall give. Now go to it...
ReplyDeleteHmmm... that was me and my insomnia. I'll take this as a challenge. I think I found it. Creepy, aren't I?
DeleteIt's fine, NellieVaughn. I am sure this is the type of thing Steve Jobs had in mind when he invented the internet in his parent's garage while listening to his Todd Rundgren albums.
DeleteTed looks pretty funny, going to have to add it to the "to watch" list.
ReplyDeleteRon burgundy is funny because he talks he talks to his dog and says what he is thinking out loud :D
ReplyDeleteTed looks hilarious! Although no doubt it'll be out in the UK months after its been released in the US! Waiting sucks.
Funny cat memes Thanks-a-mundo for the blog post. Thanks Again. Keep writing.
